Liposuction & 4D Lipo

Liposuction & 4D Lipo

Fat accumulation in certain areas of the body may cause problems for certain women as well as men. In some cases even thinner persons face stubborn fat issues. Stubborn fat around the hips, tummy and love handles is mostly an aesthetic problem, which can change the appearance and symmetry of the body. Liposuction is without doubt the queen of plastic surgery procedures in Mediterranean countries where the body type of both men and women is susceptible to fat accumulation.

At ABH Medical Group, advanced surgical and technological tools allow us to proceed with the improvement of such problems. The 4D-liposuction technique used in our centre is one of the newest, most advanced liposuction techniques in the world. Compared to 3D-liposuction, 4D-liposuction enables us to remove fat while adding optimum muscle definition and tone, not only to the abdominal area (6-pack), but to arms, chest, buttocks, thighs, hips and back as well. The body is reshaped and improved. The results are permanent.

Liposculpture may be performed along with liposuction. I.e. transfer of removed fat to other areas of the body that need correction.

Frequent Questions

Liposuction is a technique with which we remove excess fat accumulated in certain areas. In theory, this can be performed in any part of the body, according to the doctor’s opinion. In most cases, the procedure is performed on love handles, the outer thighs, inner thighs, knees, etc.

The final decision is always made following consultation with Dr. Athanasiou, plastic surgeon at Athens Beverly Hills Medical Group. You should mention any medical condition to the doctor. You should also mention whether you are a smoker or not. Liposuction is not a weigh toss procedure. It is performed locally and cannot form an alternative “diet”.

In Athens Beverly Hills Medical Group we apply on of the most modern techniques available around the world: the radio-frequency assisted liposuction. This is the vaser device, which, with the use of special frequencies, can yield classic liposuction and simultaneous firming of the targeted areas. The heat produced by the radiofrequency causes smooth liquidation of fat and vasoconstriction. This allows for minimum post-operative oedema and ecchymosis, while triggering fibroblasts and skin firming on the targeted site. In practice, this new process solves one of the biggest drawbacks of liposuction, skin sagging and laxity of the area from where large amounts of adipose tissue are removed as well as the “wavy” effect of classic liposuction.

4D-liposuction is indeed the future of liposuction and liposculpture as it can remove fat from difficult areas of the human body without any risk of injury or scars. With 4D-liposuction, we can create an appealing round shape of the body with toned buttocks and visible abdominal muscles. This “Smart” 4D-liposuction technique allows for natural looking definition of the muscles and natural movement of the muscle groups. Fat is carefully removed, the body is reshaped through liposculpting and, where necessary, fat is injected. Thus, we can add volume and tone up the existing muscular system giving definition and shape not only to the abdominal area (6-pack), but to arms, chest, buttocks, thighs, hips and back as well. The body is reshaped and improved, results are permanent.

Liposuction is a technique with which we remove excess fat accumulated in certain areas. In theory, this can be performed in any part of the body, according to the doctor’s opinion. In most cases, the procedure is performed on love handles, the outer thighs, inner thighs, knees, etc.

The procedure is performed with local anaesthesia and the patient may return home on the same day. His/her only obligation is to wear a thin, elastic compression garment for 3-4 weeks. It is almost invisible underneath clothes. Results are visible as early as the first week after the procedure, while skin firming and fibroblast production continues for up to six months after the operation.

The duration of the procedure depends on the amount of fat to be removed as well as the targeted site. In general, this is short procedure.

Other than a slight discomfort, you shall not feel anything. However, you must wear a special compression garment to avoid intense oedema and to maximize results.

Incisions are so small that are considered invisible after a short while.

The patient may quickly resume everyday duties without visible ecchymosis and oedemas.

Liposuction is performed with the tumescent technique and appropriate technical equipment (very thin cannulas, advanced water-jet equipment (Body – Jet), etc.), causing minimum tissue trauma and thus allowing for a pain-free procedure and minimum post-operative pain.

If the surgeon is to strictly adhere to the rules of the liposuction technique with local anaesthesia (tumescent technique), both during and after the procedure, the amount of fat that can be removed from the patient in one operating session is up to 10 litres. The plastic surgeon’s experience and post-operative care at the hospital is of outmost importance.

It is the most modern and advanced liposuction technique that uses radiofrequency to target and liquefy fat. At the same time, the energy produced through the radiofrequency triggers the fibroblasts and allows skin firming. Simultaneous vasoconstriction reduces post-operative oedema and ecchymosis caused by classic liposuction techniques. Liquefaction and homogenization of adipose tissue allows for a smoother and surface without waves or “cavities” often created by classic liposuction. The results of the new technique are so perfect that we can now use it for targeting the abdominal area, the inner & outer thighs, knees and arms. Vaser is also very successful in the chin area (double chin) and eyelids.

No, it is a body re-shaping method, used particularly on areas with stubborn fat such as the love handles, outer thighs, inner thighs, knees etc.

Liposuction may be safely performed on the neck, arms, back, abdomen, thighs and calves. The only restrictions that may arise involve possible lack of experience on behalf of the plastic surgeon, lack of equipment or certain health conditions of the patient.

The result of the procedure is visible even on the first day after the procedure. However, the final result can be seen one month after surgery, as oedema subsides gradually. The vaser technique allows the production of fibroblasts as well as skin firming that continues up to 6 months after surgery.

After puberty, the human body looses its ability to produce new fat cells. Therefore, after fat cells are removed from a particular body area, they cannot be replaced with new ones. This means that the liposuction result in terms of body shape is permanent if the patient remains within a reasonable range of three to four kilos.

It is usually combined with breast augmentation or mini abdominoplasty. However, this always depends on the size of the area where liposuction is performed and the overall condition of the patient.

When necessary, fat cells from the removed adipose tissue can be appropriately processed and used in several areas of the body to treat wrinkles (face), skin surface abnormalities (cellulite, boxcar scars), volume increase in specific areas (jaw line, chin, buttocks, calves, etc). Transferred fat cells act as stem cells with extraordinary results in the site of application.

A patient may undergo liposuction after puberty and until the age of 65. Restrictions may apply only in cases of certain health conditions as well as in case of poor skin quality. In general, best results are achieved in younger patients whose skin elasticity has not deteriorated due to aging.

Apart from a few hours of post-operative care, hospitalisation is generally not necessary. However, in some cases the doctor may advice the patient to remain at the hospital longer.

The cost of liposuction is defined based on the extent of the problem and the surgical technique followed. It is agreed during your visit at Athens Beverly Hills Medical Group and following an examination by the plastic surgeon, Dr. Athanasiou. The cost of the procedure also depends on whether the operation will include a simultaneous liposculpture (fat transfer) or even another surgical procedure such as abdominoplasty. The final cost of each cosmetic procedure includes all expenses (lab tests, doctors’ fees, OR cost, hospitalization and materials cost; post-operative care) except further hospitalisation in case the patient wishes to extend his/her stay.
